ASSISTED CARE
Rolling Hills Assisted Living
This project was completed for a repeat client as part of an extended care facility located in Topeka, Kansas. The building layout is generally apartment-style living units with common dining and entertaining areas. Each room is provided with a kitchenette.
The HVAC system is comprised of dedicated chilled water/hot water blower coil units for each living unit. The common, dining, and support areas were served by constant volume hydronic air handling units. The chilled water is produced in a rotary air cooled chiller with indoor evaporator. The heating water is produced in water tube, gas-fired, redundant hot water boilers. The piping is distributed in a four pipe system to allow for the varying comfort levels of the occupants.
The electrical system is based on 120/208 volt serving HVAC equipment, lighting, and power needs. The lighting system design is fluorescent fixtures equipped with energy efficient T8 lamps and solid state ballasts for common and support areas with incandescent residential grade fixture in the living units.
