Southridge at Lakeview
Lakeview Village is a senior lifestyle community. The Southridge building added to the 90-acre campus located in Lenexa, Kansas. Southridge was a $30 million project which offers 102 spacious luxury apartments. Community spaces include a sun room, game room, fitness room, craft room, and outdoor terraces. Below the living area is a large parking garage for all the residents, and above is a breathtaking sky view dining room.
Cooling and heating for the building is provided from a central location by boilers, chillers and a cooling tower on the roof. Hot and chilled water are distributed throughout the building through a four-pipe system to air handling units and fan coil units. The fan coil units within each apartment are controlled through thermostats by each tenant while community spaces are controlled by central DDC controls. Fresh air is brought into the building by two large energy recovery units located in the attic space of each wing. Supply and exhaust from the units is ducted to each apartment as well as all common spaces.
Power is brought into the building to a large central electrical room. From there power is distributed throughout the building to electrical rooms on each floor and load centers in each apartment. Critical electrical equipment such as elevators and egress lighting are connected to an emergency generator. There is direct/indirect lighting throughout the corridors and residential type fixtures were used in all the apartments to remove any commercial feeling from the building and make it feel like home.
