FIRE & POLICE STATIONS
St. Joseph Fire Stations 8, 9, & 10 Renovations
The St. Joseph Fire Stations 8, 9, and 10 are three 100 plus year old active fire stations. Station 8 was one of the last stations to use horse drawn apparatus. The three stations are located at 33rd and Mitchell, 22nd and Frederick, and King Hill and Illinois in St. Joseph, Missouri. Each of them received extensive renovation. The primary part of the renovation was done in the living quarters to make them safer, more modern, and more sanitary. The plumbing, HVAC, and electrical systems were entirely redone in each station. Each station’s living quarters has been equipped with modern amenities such as central HVAC, garbage disposals, and dishwashers. The restrooms and kitchens have been modernized, and bunk rooms, living areas, and locker areas redone to include modern lighting and ceiling fans. The truck bays have had receptacles added, and new lights installed. The fire stations have now been modernized for today's fire station requirements while maintaining their historic look from over 100 years ago.
