Albertson Hall
This building is an $8 million, 73,000 square-foot facility for the State of Kansas. The facility is located on the campus of Fort Hays State University and consists of teaching laboratory space, general teaching classrooms, and office spaces.
The building includes acid resistive piping for the DWV system, distilled water production and distribution, laboratory fume hood ventilation and the associated make-up air, and general building HVAC. The laboratory fume hood ventilation is a manifolded exhaust system terminating in a heat recovery unit located in the penthouse. The cooling for the building is derived from an evaporative condensing chiller delivering chilled water to fan and coil units on each floor and made-up air units in the mechanical penthouse. Heating for the building is derived from the central steam plant and routed to the building via a new tunnel.
The electrical system for the facility is derived from the campus power center. Each laboratory is provided with dedicated 120/208 volt three phase panels to facilitate continuing equipment changes within the labs. All fluorescent fixtures are provided with solid state ballasts and T8 lamps.
