HISTORIC

Franciscan Villa

Franciscan Villa is a historic renovation project located in Springfield, Missouri.  The complex consists of two buildings, the first built in 1904 (building A) and the second constructed in 1940 (building B).  This complex served as the first hospital for the city of Springfield.  Since that time, it has been renovated several times and has been converted to charitable housing.

The $5 million renovation consists of upgrading the public spaces and residential units.  A new central plant serves the buildings’ needs with two water-cooled chillers for cooling and two gas-fired boilers for heating utilizing a unique 4 pipe/2 pipe system. Special attention was given to indoor air quality by using three dedicated outside air units serving both buildings.

The electrical power was upgraded to accommodate the new HVAC equipment and new lighting was designed throughout each building with care given to the historical nature of the complex. The plumbing system for building B was completely refurbished including new water service to the building.  Kitchenettes were added to most of the residential units.
