Children’s Mercy Northland Clinic

Children’s Mercy Northland Clinic is a new pediatric urgent-care center and specialty clinics.  The center is located in North Kansas City, Missouri at 501 N.W. Barry Road. It includes an urgent-care center, an ear, nose and throat clinic, and others as the clinic grows. The total project consists of 17, 000 square feet, and the first phase of renovation included 11, 000 square feet.   Phase one of the project includes 14 exam rooms, a laboratory space, a radiology department, office space, and a waiting room.

The mechanical system for the space is two existing constant volume roof top units that were converted to variable air volume. The rooms are served by VAV boxes with electric reheat.  The clinic is also equipped with medical gases throughout, including air, vacuum, and oxygen.

The electrical service was upsized to accommodate the needs of the space.  A higher voltage was brought into the building in order to serve the requirements of larger equipment. This power was then used to backfeed the existing lower voltage panels and other electrical loads. Most of the lighting is 2x4 troffers accented with can lights and under-cabinet lights. The lobby was lighted with can lights and decorative recessed direct/indirect fixtures.
