MEDICAL OFFICES

Internal Medicine Building

This was a new medical office building delivered by Design/Build method for a doctor group in Lawrence, Kansas.

The HVAC system includes a direct expansion VAV indoor air handling unit and remote air cooled condensing unit complete with IAQ controls.  The office areas are conditioned by variable air volume terminal units with integral electric heating.   The open return air plenum allows the first stage of heat to be served from the heat of lights transferred to the ceiling plenum.

The electrical system is based on 277/480 volt serving HVAC equipment and lighting with separately derived 120/208 volt systems to serve other power needs.   The electrical system allows for dedicated clean power for computer loads in the office and exam room spaces.   The lighting system design is fluorescent fixtures equipped with energy efficient T8 lamps and solid state ballasts.
