MIDDLE/JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOLS
Hesston Middle School
This project involved the renovation of the HVAC system to correct operating difficulties from a previous renovation. The project was done over the summer so as not to impact the school’s schedule.
The project involved re-piping existing tunnels serving unit ventilators in the older section of the building, relocating an existing chiller evaporator, and revised boiler and evaporator piping to provide primary-secondary piping connections with two-pipe automatic changeover. In a previous expansion project, fan and coil units were installed above the corridor ceiling to serve individual classrooms. This hampered maintenance due to the restrictive clearances. This project included constructing small HVAC closets in each room and installing hydronic blower coils with connections to the existing ductwork and piping systems.
