503 Kansas
503 Kansas is a 70,000 square foot office building located in Topeka, Kansas, previously the New England building. It was renovated for a private developer and leased to the State of Kansas. The project had a total project cost of 6 million.
The mechanical system is water cooled direct expansion self-contained variable air volume units with one unit per each of the four floors. Conditioned air is delivered to the spaces via fan-powered VAV terminals with heating water coils. The heating water is produced in a pair of steel tube, gas fired boilers arranged in a primary secondary pumping arrangement. Each floor was provided with a dedicated computer room unit to condition the data/telephone rooms.
The electrical service to the facility is 120/208 volt three phase with a capacity of 2500 amps. Each of the floors is provided with a lighting panel and power panels with TVSS surge protection yielding 5.0 watts per square foot. The lighting is via three lamp fluorescent troffers with T8 lamps and solid state ballasts.
