PLACES OF WORSHIP
Temple B’Nai Jehudah
Coordination and communication were extremely important for this project due to the strong involvement of the Congregation’s building committee. The project consisted of a myriad of different spaces and uses. The building housed administrative offices for the temple, four classroom pods with six classrooms each, a preschool, chapel, full service kitchen, gift shop, library, meeting rooms, and multi-use gym/auditorium.
The HVAC system utilized packaged multi-zone rooftop units, packaged rooftop units with heat recovery and standard packaged rooftop units all with gas heat and DX cooling. The building was designed for a complete DDC control system to help with the diverse schedules of the occupants.
Lighting was also very important to the engineer, architect and owner for this project, especially in the Chapel. A Star of David was coordinated with the architect, illuminated by indirect fluorescent fixtures and quartz recessed downlights. Building façade lighting and architectural pedestrian fixtures were closely coordinated with the owner and the landscape architect in order to give the building a welcoming, secure feeling during the evenings.
